I’m just going to say it—things have gotten really weird, really fast. Everyone is adjusting to the new normal that has been brought on by the spread of COVID-19 in every home, in every industry. Obviously, the healthcare industry is facing a very great challenge. Hospitals and multispecialty providers are in a mad shuffle to address the usual healthcare concerns and problems while facing this global pandemic. Many are making the transition to telehealth and also rescheduling routine appointments to protect their staff and patients from infection.
However, other healthcare providers, especially specialty groups, are facing another set of problems. Due to economic uncertainties, patients are cancelling office visits and elective procedures. Many offices have been forced to close their doors temporarily so that they can do their part in slowing the spread of COVID-19. Some practices fear they will have to let go specialized staff simply because they will not be taking in the revenue to pay them. There’s no doubt, even if the curve of infections has flattened and number of infections reported daily begins to drop, this crisis is one we will be feeling for quite some time.
However, as we have seen in every major catastrophe, the human spirit will not be crushed by disaster. As beloved TV personality Fred Rogers once put it, “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people helping.’” Even when things are at their darkest, there will be those people who use the opportunity to help, to be good, to give, and to heal others. We at Health iPASS appreciate all the hard work our healthcare workers are doing to save lives every day. They are the helpers and the heroes we need and turn to in times such as these.

Our development team continues to improve our mobile pre-arrival features, enabling patients to verify appointments, scan insurance cards and ID, fill out forms, make payments, and more from their own devices, in the safety of their own homes. Finally, our marketing team is putting together care packages for our clients to help keep spirits up and kiosks clean and safe to use.
At the end of the day, we must cling to the hope this watershed time in history will teach us to value those helpers in our lives and shine a light on improvements we can make to build a better future. We can do this, together!
